Best Express Hair Treatment

Editors’ Choice and Readers’ Choice:
Kerastase Express Fusio-dose Treatment ($75 for 30min)

This three-step quick fix starts with a complimentary scalp analysis to identify key concerns, after which a concentrate and a booster will be chosen from four formulas to tackle the problems. The session rounds off with a hair mask (try these other at-home hair masks) to lock in nutrients. A week post-treatment, our locks remained to-die-for soft and lustrous.

Keratin Treatment (from $350 for 120min)

A special blend of proteins coats hair cuticles to smooth them, taming frizzy hair (try these 5 hair oils too) and restoring the look of damaged hair. After this has been absorbed, the hairstylist blow-dried and flat-ironed hair to seal in the nutrients.

Best Treatment For Damaged/Chemically-treated Hair

Editors’ Choice:
Balmain Signature Hair Treatment ($379 for 90min)

Action Hair Salon, #05-08 Paragon (tel: 6732-1003)

Editors’ Choice:
LKJ (Cinderella) Keratin Treatment (from $321 for 120min)

Drawing on the goodness of organic ingredients, this keratin treatment helped revive the look of our haylike tresses. While what goes into the Cinderella product is a secret, its popularity in Korea (and Singapore) is not – many have returned for repeat sessions, including us! Results can reportedly last up to three months.

Readers’ Choice:
Organic Mode Aqua Rich Treatment (from $130 for 90min)

This four-step treatment locks in moisture, helping to tackle dryness and damage so hair becomes softer and healthier-looking. The first two steps reportedly work on repairing the inner layer of the hair shaft, while the next two coat the outer layer with nutrients to improve texture. Our tester reported that the results lasted four days.

Best Scalp-maintenance Treatment

Editors’ Choice:
Shiseido Professional The Hair Care Fuente Forte Scalp Vitality Treatment (from $100 for 60min)

At the heart of the treatment lies Shiseido Professional’s Fuente Forte range, formulated to promote blood circulation and condition the scalp. Products used include the Circulist Cleanser, designed to deep-cleanse the scalp and moisturise it; a purifying shampoo; and a treatment mask that softens hair. The session ended with an invigorating scalp massage (more on this treatment here).

Best Scalp-rejuvenation Treatment

Editors’ Choice:
Experligent Amplified Scalp Treats X Noninvasive Laser Therapy ($235.40 for 120min)

A scalp specialist performs a detailed scalp analysis before proceeding with a massage. An O2 & High Frequency Current Apparatus delivers oxygen and microcurrents via a handheld wand to help regulate sebum production and aid product penetration, after which red light therapy is administered to improve blood circulation and supposedly stimulate follicles for hair growth; this is also said to help with hair loss if done regularly (also try these 10 products for a fuller mane). Our scalp felt refreshed and clean for the next few days.

chez vous

Chez Vous, #05-05 Ngee Ann City (tel: 6732-9388)

Editors’ Choice:
Kerastase Avant Garde Ritual (from $198 for 90min)

This treatment promises to aid hair growth through the use of professional tools such as the scalp-stimulating Infra Red Healing Brush and a hair steamer, which helps with product penetration. The massages – including one for the neck that was performed via a heated device that promotes blood circulation – were extremely comfortable. Bonus points for the tea menu and snacks, nice changing facilities and fluffy robes.

Editors’ Choice and Readers’ Choice:
DSR Therapy ($308.16 for 120min, salon version; $350.96 for 150min, spa version)

Detox, stabilise, regrow – that’s what the DSR in the treatment name stands for. It does these with help from a High Frequency Comb (microcurrents reportedly regulate sebum production and improve blood circulation), a Skin-scrubber (deep-cleanses and aids product penetration), a Galvanic Probe (helps improve the absorption of products), a hydro-cleanse (jets of water cleanse and massage the scalp), the use of traditional Chinese acupressure techniques and Korean botanical herbs. (Find out more about this treatment here).
