Unless you specialise in visual fx makeup or are a professional artist, most halloween makeup looks on YouTube will seem too high-level for you to try on your own. If you want to get your spook on this year, or just look like a really glamorous version of some animal, here are some tutorials that are easy enough to follow, and do not require any special products like liquid latex or special fx makeup.
STITCHED UP LIPS
I really like this tutorial because it doesn’t require any skill to get the shading done, and all you need are a few blushers, liquid lipsticks, eyelash glue and some thread. It just requires a little patience when attaching the thread, but that’s easy enough!
PAINT ON A SKULL
Skull tutorials are always popular this time of the year, but most of them are either too complex or use products you might not already have. This tutorial by Chrisspy is much easier to follow and doesn’t require too much professional blending!
SOME SUICIDE SQUAD REALNESS
Of course, we anticipate a number of girls choosing to go as Harley Quinn for Halloween, partly because the look is really easy to pull off, and partly because the character is distinctive even with a few basic wardrobe items. This tutorial from Nikkie is fairly simple, and is glam at the same time. All you might need to source for is a wig!
DOE, A DEER
As mentioned above, glam animals are a popular option at Halloween. If a simple cat is too basic for you, here’s something a little more next-level: attempting to look like Bambi. It relies quite heavily on drastic contouring, but the bright side is that you don’t have to be particularly precise to pull this off.
BONUS: SOME ADVANCED LEVEL STUFF
I had to include this crazy tutorial from Desi Perkins, because it’s stunning and also requires a level of skill we can only dream of. What I love about this tutorial is that Desi even shows the mistakes she makes throughout the process, so we get an idea of just how tedious the whole process really is.
