Need a lift? Here's how to look younger without surgery

We are only weeks away from Christmas, so if you are looking to reduce the signs of ageing and get a more defined face in time for all the parties, try the skin lifting treatment called Threadlift

There are plenty of creams and skin boosting serums out there that claim to have anti-ageing benefits. Even if they are effective, they typically take time to work. On the other hand, cosmetic surgery such as a full face lift is invasive and usually requires involves lengthy downtime.

If you are considering an aesthetic face treatment for younger, fuller-looking skin but don’t want to go under the knife, thread lifts – a minimally invasive procedure designed to contour and shape the face, neck and nose – may be ideal.

Doctors at Prive Clinic offer the Threadlift treatment, which uses two main types of threads that are FDA-approved and commonly used in cardiovascular surgery. The first, Silhouette Soft, is made of Poly L-lactic Acid (PLLA) and is anchored to the skin by way of PLLA cones attached to the thread. These absorbable threads act as scaffolds to contour and lift various areas, such as the jawline, cheeks and mid-face, eye area, and neck. The threads stimulate the skin over time to generate its own collagen for a long lasting, natural-looking lift.

Polydioxanone (PDO) threads, on the other hand, feature tiny hooks or barbs that anchor the thread to the skin. They are particularly suitable for nose Threadlifts and can be used to enhance the nose bridge, making it look sharper and lifted. The threads can also be used on the tip of the nose for a more pointed and heightened look.

The thread is inserted about 5mm under the skin with a thin yet flexible cannula; no incision of the skin is made. Once inserted, the threads are tightened as desired. The ends of the suture are then cut off; no stitches are necessary. Over time, the threads are naturally absorbed into the body.

The results are said to be visible almost immediately and last 12-24 months. Best of all, they expect to give a natural look.

The procedure has a minimal risk of scarring with little downtime. There is no need to worry about pain either, as the process is said to be virtually pain-free. However, to minimise any discomfort, a numbing cream may be applied. Any swelling you might experience is mild, and lasts two to five days.

A facial Threadlift starts from $2,000, and a nose Threadlift, from $1,400.
