REVIEW: The facial began like any other, with a skin questionnaire that I had to fill in to let the therapist know about my skin condition and daily skincare routine.
My therapist explained to me once in the facial room (and under strong lights) what my skin issues were, and I was surprised she knew that I had minor issues with my sinuses, all by seeing where my skin was “congested”.
After cleansing my face of its makeup and steaming it under a steam machine for 10 minutes, she began the extraction process. I was expecting it to be unbearable but it turned out to be surprisingly painless. As I suffer from skin sensitivity, my skin was red and splotchy after the extraction so she tailored the facial for me by applying a cooling gel all over my face that soothed my skin straightaway.
Next, she began the ultrasound treatment. First she applied a serum all over my face and used the ultrasound rod to gently massage my skin in a circular motion. There were no comforting buzzing sounds to prove that it was working its magic but that was normal apparently. I can’t be certain but it did feel like the thick layer of serum was absorbed quite quickly into my skin.
The next step was a warm, soothing oat mask that smelt so good I wanted to eat it there and then. The therapist left it on for a glorious 15 minutes during which I fell asleep.
After the facial, my face felt clean, clear and definitely brighter, but as always, the real proof of a good facial was how my face looked the next day. The next day, my face felt just as clear, supple and smooth as it did right after the facial, and stayed that way for another two days or so. That, to me, is a sign of a well-done facial; one that I would return for.
