Gwyneth Paltrow 90 Here’s how you can recreate Gwyneth’s ultra-groomed locks with tips from her hair stylist

From glossy locks to elfin crops, Gwyneth Paltrow has pulled off a whole host of hairstyle triumphs over the years.

The super-groomed actress’ hair never looks less than immaculate and she has one man to thank for that – celebrity hair stylist extraordinaire George Northwood.

“Despite having a job where I am meant to be presentable in public, I am wholly unskilled in the arena of doing my hair and make-up,” Gwyneth confesses in her lifestyle blog Goop as she reveals her hairdresser George’s tips for achieving a red carpet worthy blow dry.

1. Wash hair with a volumising shampoo before combing a golf ball sized amount of volumising mousse through the hair, focusing on the roots, heading to the crown. For the ends, comb in a bit of straightening serum to get rid of frizz.

2. Turn the blowdryer on at a high heat and give the hair a loose blow dry lifting at the roots for body. Keep drying until 80 to 90 per cent dry.

3. Choose a side and start by pinning the top layers of your hair on top of your head, so you can straighten the bottom layer upwards. Use a round brush and measure a section of your hair that’s about as wide as the bristled section of the brush. Place the brush under that section of hair, close to the roots and coil the hair around the bristles.

4. Turn the dryer on and give a quick puff to the roots from underneath. Now, holding the dryer’s nozzle right on the brush, move the dryer and brush together from roots until you reach the tips. When you reach the ends, give them extra attention by going over them more than once, removing frizz and curling them slightly under.

5. When you’re left with just the hair on the top of your head to straighten, start by straightening the front section out towards the mirror in front of you. The very front section should be flat to the forehead to smooth out any growth patterns around the hairline. Next, with the very front section, flatten the two sides over the temple areas. You might want to use a hair iron to get the frizzy areas around the temples.

6. Finish off by smoothing a few drops of hair oil on the hair, especially on the tips, for shine, moisture and to get rid of frizz. © Cover Media
