MAC Cosmetics has announced the worldwide launch of a beauty line inspired by 1950s film star Marilyn Monroe to be released this October.

WWD reports February 22 that the colour cosmetics line will comprise of eyeshadows, lipsticks, nail lacquers and eyeliners -- with prices ranging from US$15 to US$27.

The announcement comes at a time when Monroe fever is in the air; Michelle Williams has been nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal of the actress in biopic My Week With Marilyn, and there has been a revived interest in her trademark rouged lips and famous beauty spot.

Meanwhile, Estée Lauder has teamed up with 1960s-set show Mad Men for another vintage-inspired beauty line announced this week.
