What’s hot in K-Pop this week
NU’EST to perform in Singapore: Rookie boyband NU’EST, most famous for their catchy hit “Face”, are scheduled to begin overseas promotions in Thailand later this month. They’ll then be making their Singaporean fans happy when they hit our shores in December on an as yet, unconfirmed date.
Win tickets to Wonder World Tour’s Singapore stop: The reward program of Tan Chong Group, DUO, is the official partner for Wonder World tour and is offering ten pairs of tickets and two passes to meet the girls. Instructions to enter the contest are HERE.
G-Dragon gets buff, loves cats, becomes our idea of a perfect man: So, BIGBANG’s G-Dragon has always been known for his skinny frame, in fact that’s what VIPs love him for.
But it seems the BIGBANG leader has been hitting the gym for “several hours a day” according to a YG representative, “to manage his health for his solo activities” and the buffness has already been noticed in his Twitter and G-market promotional pictures.
Could this mean topless pictures for his comeback this month?
In other adorable GD news, he has also uploaded a video of him teasing a sleeping cat, with the caption “A cat wagging its tail. sooooo cute” HERE.
Line Messenger official celebrities accounts now available in Singapore: Get messages, pictures and more from CNBLUE, Miss A and other acts when you download Naver’s Line Messenger (similar to Whatsapp) and add their official IDs – #ftislandasia, #cnblueasia, #2amasia, #2pmasia, #zeaasia, #leeminho, #missa, #wondergirls. Download the app HERE.
TOP gets body-searched at airport: Here are pictures of TOP from BIGBANG, getting “felt up” by a guard at the airport. Now, don’t you want that job?
Get SNSD (Girls Generation) postage stamps: The iconic girl group are the first K-Pop idols to be immortalised on postage stamps, to be released on August 17.
Considering you can only use these in South Korea, it’s probably only for diehard SONES. Pre-order them HERE.
PSY to release another MV for “Gangnam Style”: To say the music video for “Gangnam Style” has been super popular is an understatement, and the rapper has even been contacted by Justin Bieber’s people (maybe for a collaboration?). Now, one of his reps have confirmed that a new version, where “Gangnam Style” is to be replaced by “Oppa is just my style” will be released soon. Will it be as crazy as his first one? We’re definitely anticipating this one. In the meantime, check out his live performance with After School, SISTAR, and Hara and Nicole from KARA.

K-Pop overseas sales goes over 150 billion won ($165 million): A report in the Korea Herald showed that sales of music and video content to countries outside Korea has gone into the millions, in the first half of this year alone. Increasing along with sales are the stock prices and earnings of the Big Three entertainment companies – YG, SM and JYP.
CNBLUE’s Japanese single: Proving they sound just as hot in Japanese is the idol band CNBLUE, who’ve released the music video for the Yonghwa written-and-composed track “Time Is Over” from their first full Japanese album Code Name Blue. It will go on sale on August 29. We’re especially loving the laidback vibe of the vid, with the guys in casual clothes, jamming. Also, watch out for Jungshin in his acting debut in KBS2TV’s “My Daughter Soyoung”, to be broadcast in September.
Super Junior’s repackaged album SPY: After the success of “Sexy, Free & Single”, the group has a treat in store for ELFs – a meatier album with four new songs, including a James Bond-inspired dance track and “Only U”, composed by Leetuek and Donghae especially for the fans.
Han Geng goes on secret date: The former Super Junior member was spied with Chinese actress (and reportedly, rich heiress) Jiang Kaitong out in downtown Beijing having a meal, then going back to his apartment. The couple was also previously spotted at the airport right before leaving for the Maldives.
