Why were there no Singapore winners at the Audi Star Creation 2014 design contest?

Singapore’s signature fashion design competition Audi Star Creation has announced its winners for 2014, but despite there being three entrants from Singapore the prizes went to designers from South Korea, Hong Kong and China.

According to a report on Buzzfeed Business, Urban Outfitters had to pull a crop-top patterned with the word “depression” ‒ originally created by Singapore fashion label Depression for its long-time fans ‒ from sale on its website.

Getting cozy with Jimmy Choo

Not that long ago I was lucky enough to get cosy with Jimmy Choo's spunky creative director Sandra Choi (who happens to be the niece of Jimmy Choo's wife, Rebecca) at hot Singapore restaurant Pollen.

herworldPLUS has won an Asian Digital Media Award!

Two years can pass in the blink of an eye, especially when you work online. It seems like only yesterday that we launched
After a lot of hard work, very late nights, seemingly endless “die die must go up now” stories, many blisters (we have to look good for all those events), and callused thumbs from using the mouse so much, we have finally been awarded a prize.

Celebs, models & more at Michael Kors Spring 2014 show in New York

NEW YORK - For the first time in a long time I was back in New York for fashion week, thanks to the team at Michael Kors Singapore I was in town to interview the designer and watch his Spring 2014 runway show.
While Michael, as he’s familiarly referred to by staff, was warm, friendly and surprisingly calm during my brief interview at the ridiculous hour of 8.30am; I’d actually been waiting since 7.30am but that was fine ‒ it was his day after all.

I’m glad I’m not as famous as G-Dragon

You really can’t understand what it’s like to be a global music and fashion phenomenon until you experience the screams, the pushing, the shoving and the dangerous waving of smartphones at an appearance by K-Pop superstar G-Dragon; and that was just from the supposedly “cool” crowd of fashionistas invited to the VVIP opening night of the new Salon by Surrender store. The actual fans were a whole other, much louder and more desperate, story.

Rockin’ tomboy hip-hop k-pop goth glam

I have to admit I was a little nervous about the “Style Lab” component of my visit to the Firenze4Ever event, I haven’t styled in ages. But thankfully with three floors of fabulous Autumn Winter 2013-14 looks to pull from a huge range of amazing designers I managed to run with the “punk glam grunge” theme and put together three looks.

Styling superstars of the online world

So, it’s Day 2 of the Luisaviaroma Firenze4Ever styling event, and despite staying up late getting the first blog done, I was up at the crack of dawn – ok, 8am – to get a head-start on the styling assignment I’m due to turn in tomorrow.

Firenze forever

I haven’t been to Firenze – Florence, for the non-Italian speaking people – since I was a kid being dragged around Europe by my parents and honestly, I remember nothing except sore feet, lots of stone and gelato.

Now, however, I’m back in the birthplace of the Renaissance; home of the infamous Medici family and, more importantly, home to one of Europe’s most exciting shopping experiences, LuisaViaRoma.

Audi Fashion Festival 2013: The highs and lows

More than 100 runway looks, 20 cab rides and 30 hours of hard work later, the herworldPLUS team couldn’t be more glad to finally put our AFF stories to bed.
Not only was it unbelievably exciting to speak to noted fashion luminaries such as Hussein Chalayan, Jun Okamoto, Peter Pilotto, Collette Dinnigan, as well as be swept up in the fashion frenzy of the past five days, the whole process was frankly quite exhausting, but infinitely rewarding, with memories that will stay with us for a lifetime.
Here we recount the highs and lows of Audi Fashion Festival 2013.
