Pencil point shoes are set to be the height of glamour this coming season. The sharp toed courts with stiletto heel were a firm favourite on the Fall/Winter 11 catwalks.

Givenchy added a gold circlet around the ankle to the classic stiletto court shoe while Balenciaga presented strappy, pointy-toed stilettos with bold ornate 'cuffs'. Emilio Pucci showed elegant pencil point courts in  reptile skin and rich shades.

There are a number of ways to wear the sharp-toed shoes. They remain an icon of style, and are best kept to evening or formal events.

The extra length of the shoe's point alters the proportion of the foot and makes it appear slim and sexy. Fashionistas should take advantage of the shoe highlighting their femininity and pair the shoes with cropped trousers or pencil skirts.
