The year is drawing to a close and though we don’t have the luxury of a wintry December here in tropical Singapore, we’re looking forward to spending the rainy season curled up in an armchair, nursing a nice hot cup of tea. Well, get cosy because these newly launched tea collections are perfect for putting you in the holiday mood.

1. Joy to the Wild T2 Christmas Collection

It’s a known fact that Australian tea brand T2 creates intoxicatingly aromatic blends. So we have high expectations for the two limited edition Christmas teas, Paradise Punch and Mulled Wine Magic ($30 for 120g of loose leaf tea). Paradise Punch draw inspiration from a tropical beach getaway with fruity notes of banana and strawberry, while the Mulled Wine Magic is a more typical Christmas flavour with spice to warm you up and brightness of citrus to round things off.

Looking for something for the office gift exchange? The quirky packaging of T2’s mini teas ($10 for 10g of loose leaf teas) are guaranteed to garner universal approval. Sleep Tight, a lemonbalm tisane, is housed in a star-shaped box, and Tutti Fruity resembles a bright yellow fruit.
Available at all T2 stores.

2. 1872 Clipper Tea Co. Christmas Collection

Speaking of adorable packaging, check out The 1872 Clipper Tea Co.’s Christmas Collection. Inspired by popular ice cream flavours, the brand has launched its Merry Ice-cream Truck ($15 for a 25g tin). There’s Blueberry and Salted Caramel loose leaf tea blends, both made with Ceylon black tea, and Matcha powder.

We’re more taken by the first two flavours, if only because the Blueberry tea is embellished with edible sugar pastel stars and Salted Caramel has glitter dust in it. (No, we aren’t basic, we’re unicorns.)

Available at all 1872 Clipper Tea Co. stores and retail counters.

3. TWG Tea 12 Days of Christmas Gift Box

Choosing teas is hard. Embrace indecision with TWG Tea’s 12 Days of Christmas Gift Box, an advent calendar comprising 12 little tins ($150 for 12 x 25g of loose leaf tea) different tea blends. These include the limited edition Joy of Christmas Tea, a blend of black tea, spices, fruits and chocolate, as well as TWG favourites like Milky Oolong Tea and Darjeeling Princess Tea.

Still don’t have enough tea in your system? Munch on some Red Christmas Tea Shortbread Cookies ($19 per box) as you make your way to the bottom of that mug. Or savour these buttery red tea and spiced orange-infused biscuits before bed - they’re caffeine-free.

Available at all TWG Tea Salons and Boutiques from November 10.

4. Anchor Food Professionals’ It’s Cake Time - A nationwide bake sale with 9 bakeries

What is tea time without cake? Tea-inspired cake, at that.

From now till the end of December, nine bakeries have collaborated with Anchor Food Professionals (AFP) to come up with nine cakes made using tea as the central ingredient and creamy Anchor butter. These include neighbourhood favourites and artisanal bakeries, namely Barcook, Baker & Cook, Bakery Cuisine, D’Pastriez by Bread Fresh, DoraKeiki, Mugiya, Rive Gauche, Swee Heng and Swissbake.

One unique creation is the Osmanthus Onde Onde Cake from D’Pastriez ($5.90 per slice or $38 for a whole cake), which has a dense and rich crumb between layers of light cream and a crumbly roasted coconut sablé base, topped with osmanthus jelly. It’s a curious combination, but it works for us.

To sweeten the deal (no pun intended), you stand a chance to win a round-trip for four to New Zealand if you buy any of these cakes. Second prize is a trip for two. Not too shabby, we say.
