Apple next-gen iPad event tipped for March 7
The iPad rumor mill is running hot as the tablet’s yearly product cycle target date draws near.
This year bloggers have predicted that Apple will host a keynote event to unveil the next generation iPad, aka the “iPad 3,” on March 7.
“Apple currently plans to hold their iPad 3 announcement on Wednesday, March 7, 2012,” announced Rene Ritchie, editor-in-chief of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch blog iMore.
The next-generation tablet is rumored to feature a 2048x1536 “Retina” display, a quad-core Apple 6 chip, and may even support faster 4G LTE data speeds.
In January Apple and i-device blog iLounge predicted that the next-generation iPad would feature upgraded cameras, a minutely thicker body, and a release date similar to the iPad 2’s (March 11).
As Mobile World Congress (MWC) draws near, tech-heads are also following rumors that Huawei will show off a 10” MediaPad 10 tablet.
In other tablet news, Samsung has revealed a new 7” Galaxy Tab 2 -- its first tablet to feature Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
