Ditch the boring old cinemas and dinner dates, and step out to smell the tulips, be a #catmolester, and more

Here’s a thought, don’t you agree that a relationship is all about asking each other what do they want to eat until one dies? It’s the same ol’ boring drills -- going to the movies, the occasional picnics or spend the rest of the day walking around aimlessly before popping the grand question of what to have for dinner. If you’re lucky and have a place to cuddle up at, it’s Netflix and chill time with order-in pizzas.

We know, last weekend at Artbox was mental, with barely any breathing space for anyone. But pictures on instagram do look swell. Running till this Sunday, 23rd of April, the hipster containers hangout from Bangkok features over 300 pop up vendors on lush green lawn at the Bayfront event space.

Starting today, Singapore Ink Show will be held at Suntec City where international and local tattoo artists gather to celebrate the artistry and their skills.Tattoo competitions will be held each day, where each artist will flaunt their greatest skill, with a specific theme like ‘best cover up’ and more.

Do you both love all things nifty and under the radar? Then the Public Garden Consumer Trade Show is your one-stop destination this weekend. Back at it for the sixth time, it showcases the best Asian progressive brands and designers. Expect quirky stationery, art, accessories and of course, fashion and beauty.

The second installation of Amoy street bloc party is back and this time round, with a whole lot of fun and shimmy-time. Collaborating with Sunshine Nation, you can head on down to Amoy Street this Sunday for a hearty meal, after all the shopping from the consumer trade show.

 

 

Refuel yourself with bites from boCHINChe, Employees Only, Le Binchotan, Burger Joint, Ding Dong and Birds of a Feather.

 

 

Then dance all the calories off with Maribou State, UK electronic duo that will make their debut here. If dancing doesn’t entice you, I hope yoga sessions do.

Tulipmania

 

 

You don’t have to fly all the way to Holland just to catch a glimpse of their magnificent tulip splendor because Gardens by the Bay’s Tulipmania is back in full force. This time, floral and fauna displays are all Vincent van Gogh inspired, so look out for The Starry Night, painted with vivid hues of tulips.

 

 

Housing over a hundred varieties of tulips and hyacinths, including the Darwin hybrid tulips, pay a visit to Tulipmania.

Precious Eggs: of Art, Beauty and Culture

 

 

Where can you get a glimpse of Russian imperial porcelain eggs, Faberge egg pendants and eggs fashioned out of crystal and horn? Right at the Singapore Philatelic Museum. Running now till 8 October, the Precious Eggs: of Art, Beauty and Culture exhibition will give you an insight on the evolution of the brittle-shell nugget in the arts spanning different periods.

 

 

Featuring over 148 one-of-a-kind exquisite and delicate eggs from the Liechtenstein National Museum, we recommend you check out the glass egg on display, it carries ashes from Mt Helena’s volcanic eruption in 1980. Besides, a date at the museum is never a bad idea.

Hong kong shop cats exhibition

 

 

Known on instagram by his handle @chinesewhiskers, Mercel Heijen started a series of cat photographs in Hong Kong. Found in shops, markets and alley ways.

 

 

All crazy cat ladies are in luck -- the first photobook, Hong Kong Shop Cats, will be on sale at the exhibition. So drag your partner and hurry on down and get your furry paws on them. Heijen is currently working on another photobook, Hong Kong Market Cats, keep a lookout for that.
