7 great restaurants every pasta lover should try

They may not be styled as Italian trattorias, but these restaurants are serving up great pasta dishes such as macaroni with portobello bolognese, matcha pesto pasta and smoked salmon and more.

Open Farm Community

One of our all-time favourite restaurants, and so too for many expats and locals alike - visit once and order literally anything from their menu and you'll see why.

Inspiring the concept of honest food, each dish is a masterpiece of exciting Western and Asian flavours. Our recommendation: the 48 hour Barolo Braised Oxtail Strozzapreti.

The Marmalade Pantry

Some know The Marmalade Pantry for its pastas and risottos, some for its soups, and some for its cakes. We say combine all of that for a perfect hearty meal.

Whether you're after a simple Carbonara or something you won't find anywhere else like Lobster Barley Risotto, The Marmalade Pantry is a consistent option, and a convenient one too, seeing that it's right in the heart of town!

#03-22 ION Orchard, 2 Orchard Turn

Open Door Policy

The entire menu at Open Door Policy is 100% gluten-free and and dairy-free, an ode to our body's relationship with nature. But you probably wouldn't even know - it's that tasty.

Vegan maccheroni pasta with portobello bolognese gratin and bechamel is a favourite of executive chef Ryan Clift, who's lactose-intolerant himself, and ours too. Don't fret the missing dairy - they still managed to put cheesecake on the menu.

Violet Herbs

Every item on the menu lures you in with their extensive use of herbs, from Sous Vide 48 Hours Wagyu Beef Cheek, Stuffed Quail Towers; but don't miss out on the cold angel hair pasta with abalone, seaweed, chives, decadently drizzled with truffle oil.

Feeling fancy? There's an 8 course degustation menu. Go hard or go home, they say.

81 Tras St

Habitat Coffee

If you're feeling adventurous, try Habitat Coffee's Matcha Pesto Pasta with smoked salmon, boldly inventive yet still greatly comforting.

The menu reads extremely well, so you'll have trouble not over-ordering. But try not to, anyway, and save space for desserts: we're talking sticky date pudding, lava cakes, and more.

223 Upper Thomson Rd

Ah Bong's Italian

This eatery's name hints that it's not your typical Italian restaurant - Ah Bong's Italian started out as a humble pasta stand in a hawker centre, before moving into a space of its own only recently.

Even then, they still serve possibly cheapest pasta for its standard. The menu changes each day, but look out for hot favourites like Fresh Pesto as well as Crab Meat Aglio Olio.

P.S. Cafe

As much as we love fancy, creative renditions of pasta, sometimes we find ourselves hankering for a good ol' Aglio Olio, and hardly anyone does it better than P.S. Cafe.

The restaurant on Dempsey Hill boasts a fantastic ambience - it's cosy enough for a family dinner, or romantic enough for a date night out. Little wonder it's popular among expats!
