Find modern wedding dresses at new multi-label boutique
The biggest fear for a bride is probably not being able to find the dress of her dreams. The “this-is-it” dress as Tann-Ling Loh, the owner of new multi-label wedding dress boutique, The Prelude Bridal, calls it.
With the demand for more modern wedding styles increasing – we mean sleeker lines, appropriate embellishment, luxurious materials, no more over-the-top sequins and tacky, cheap-looking satin – Ms Loh has hit the nail on its head by bringing in three of the most sought-after wedding dress designers.
Wedding gowns from Amanda Wakeley, David Fielden and Junko Yoshioka at The Prelude Bridal
Amanda Wakeley’s body-skimming, almost Pippa-esque designs, will appeal to brides who want to show off their bodies in a classy way. And readers of The Sunday Times will remember that Singapore’s most famous bachelorette-turned-bride Sumiko Tan once wrote in her weekly column that she wore an Amanda Wakeley dress for her own wedding.
More adventurous brides will like David Fielden’s styles, which are more dramatic and creative while Junko Yoshioka’s classic aesthetic with a twist will attract conservative brides who still want to be modern on their big day.
Ms Loh carefully handpicks the dresses which make it to the store.
“There’s no hard and fast rule. It’s hard to explain, but I know it when I see it. I wanted to introduce and make available gowns that I carefully curated and personally appreciated – something that like-minded brides would fall in love with,” says the former financial lawyer who found her new calling after her own search for a wedding dress made her realise the dearth of international wedding gown designs in Singapore.
The boutique also prides itself on its personalised services which don’t end after you pick out the gown. An order for a new piece will be placed, after which it will be sent to the shop for bespoke alterations. And if you see something you like in a foreign magazine or website from the labels which isn’t available here, Ms Loh will help you source it.
Bridal accessories by Jenny Packham
To complete your unique wedding day look, the boutique also carries three accessories lines – Jenny Packham (whose creations have been worn by 2011’s most famous bride, Kate Middleton), Haute Bride, whose veils, jewellery and hair pieces are handmade in San Francisco, and Vivien Sheriff who did headpieces for at least 50 guests at the royal wedding last year.
The Prelude Bridal is at 21A Duxton Hill. For enquiries, call 6221 4982 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Log on to www.amandawakeley.com, www.davidfielden.co.uk and www.junkoyoshioka.com to find out more about the designers.
