Consider this the ultimate gift for the Harry Potter fan. When Matthew (who declined to reveal his last name) posted a series of pictures detailing a list of steps he took to make his then-fiancee Janine’s wedding gift, it promptly went viral.
But of course. The gift, a homemade Pensieve (magical basin used to revisit and view memories), was made to resemble and work just like the ones in the books and the movies did.
But instead of a silvery substance that you could dip your wand into (which was impossible to recreate), Matthew replaced with several tiny glass bottles containing slips of coloured paper that contained a happy memory for her. Clever.
It didn’t just stop at the Pensieve, which Matthew made out of his lessons from pottery making class. The elaborate gift came with a letter from Hogwarts, a stuffed owl (Hedwig!), a magic wand with Janine’s name on it (where he glued a magnet to the tip of, so it could pick up the bottles, which had magnets stuck to the bottoms too), as well as a “memory-making set” which contained empty glass bottles and several sheets of blank paper.
Is this just the best or what? If you’re waiting to hear how Janine reacted to the gift, needless to say, she loved it.
