We met at a Resorts World Sentosa corporate shoot. I did the makeup, and Nick was the talent. We really hit it off, but as he left before everything was over, we didn’t get to exchange numbers. Just when I thought I’d never see him again, he messaged me that evening. He’d found my old web portfolio and number through Google, and asked me out.
I was actually counting on a proposal during my birthday, and asked Nick if that was going to happen. He said I could expect it towards the end of the year – and I believed him. Nick took me to Osia Steak and Seafood Grill (Resorts World Sentosa) for a very romantic dinner. When we were done with the main course, he went to the restroom. Shortly afterwards, a waitress handed me a laptop and headphones. My man had recorded a sweet birthday video featuring photos of the both of us.
At the end of it, I was given an envelope with handwritten instructions and a map which led me to the room at the RWS Convention Centre where Nick and I first met. He was waiting for me with a huge bouquet of flowers. Nick got down on one knee and asked if I would allow him to take care of me for the rest of my life. No prizes for guessing what my answer was.
Fuss-free & relaxed
We had a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony followed by lunch in the church canteen. Our tea ceremony was held in one of the church rooms. As a makeup artist for five years, I have attended many weddings, so I knew exactly what I wanted and didn’t want for our celebration. The priority was to celebrate with a close group of people we loved.
Everything felt so surreal, and I kept thinking, “OMG! This is actually happening. I’m getting married!” over and over again. When I saw Nick waiting for me at the altar, I was sure that I was the most blessed girl on Earth. When the priest pronounced us man and wife, I felt a quiet peace in my heart as well.
Oh, happy day
I’ve never seen my father so thrilled and excited before. Having him walk me down the aisle and give me away was one of the highlights of the day.
I wouldn’t have changed a thing about our wedding.
