"In cahoots with my friends, Derek planned a proposal at Fort Canning Park. I was taken there after a dinner and was shocked to see him standing within a heart shape outlined with candles under a canopy. My mind was in a blur but I managed to say “yes!," says Calynn.

Calynn dressed her bridesmaids in matching light lavender dresses to complement her wedding theme.
Wedding stylist Cheri Joan of Cheri de Fleur created a rustic reception area for their church wedding.
"I got some of the decor from Taobao, while friends gave me stuff like wooden crates and glass bottles," shares the bride.
The couple had guests fill up frames with good wishes and advice for their future.
Calynn carried a bouquet of pink roses and eustomas, dusty millers and eucalyptus to go with her rustic theme.

"Derek was a real gentleman and kept to this promise to me: that we would share our first kiss on the lips only after becoming man and wife. That was a meaningful, cherished moment to us."

“Save up and set a budget before settling on any wedding items. Also stop obsessing about losing weight. It’s far more important to be a healthy, joyful bride,” says Calynn.
