7 lobangs to get free foods and makeup services in Singapore

There's so many ways to get free things, you'll be wishing you knew about them sooner

If there’s anything Singaporeans are unabashed about, it’s scoring the best deals. We’re always scouring the internet and our island for the cheapest and best finds we can get our hands on.

All the better if it’s cheap/free and has good quality! But did you know that you can get great items for free in Singapore? Here are a few lobangs.

1) Free Makeup

You want to try a skincare product, but you have makeup on. How do you get a sample to try at home? Many beauty counters will put tester amouns of skincare or makeup or whatever into small tubs for you to take home.

We tried this at Tang's, Robinson's Sephora and Metro -- and the answer was nearly always yes, if we asked nicely.

And there's no obligation to buy. Just ask.

Free samples everyday - delivered to your home

Get up to four free samples delivered to your door. Every. Single. Day.

You can sign up for free at and choose from hundreds of hair and beauty items, food products, and home care launches. The best thing yet? Singpost delivers the samples to your home.

Here's the catch: You must post reviews of the products on their website -- this gains points you use to redeem your next lot of free samples. If you have enough 'points' in your wallet, you can check out up to four items each day, but you can only get one free sample of each item.

Information on the sample varies -- some have really good info on how to use the products, others just have a few words.

3) Free birthday gifts

Many stores in Singapore offer freebies and gifts if you join their membership programmes, so get Googling.

We like the freebies at Lancome beauty and Tang's department store, which gives you a free gift on your birthday, free alteration on fashion items you buy at the store and free home delivery for purchases over $100.

If you're a beauty pass member at Sephora, you get a free gift during your birthday month and you can also claim one free brow waxing service during your birthday month at Benefit Brow Bar at Sephora outlets -- which saves you an eyebrow-raising $22.

4) Free entry to the Singapore Zoo or Night Safari

How about a wild birthday night? On your actual birthday date, you get free entry to Singapore Zoo (save $33/adult, $22/child), River Safari (save $30/adult, $20/child) or Night Safari (save $45/adult, $30/child).

The only catch is that you need at least one other paying guest. For extra LOLs, you also get a cute badge that says "I'm having a wild birthday!"

5) Free pizza

What is better than free pizza? We'll tell you: Free pizza delivered to your doorstep. You can get a free $20 birthday voucher for Spizza pizza if you join the Spizza for Friends Reward Programme by making an online order or dining-in-store, and registering your birthday date.

Apart from getting up to 15% off your bill, you get a $20 voucher, valid for a 10-inch pizza delivered to your home.

6) Free dinner worth $68

Enjoy a free birthday set menu worth $68 at Resorts World Sentosa. You can pick from a range of restaurants there, including Feng Shui Inn, Forest 森, Fratelli - Trattoria Pizzeria, Osia Steak & Seafood Grill, Syun, and Tangerine.

You need to reserve at least 24 hours in advance, and present your birthday e-voucher and membership card while ordering and paying.

7) Free entry to Universal Studios Singapore

If theme parks are your thing, you get one free ticket to major attractions on Sentosa on your birthday -- if you book another three tickets. That's $68 saved if you and your friends go to Universal Studios Singapore.

At Adventure Cove Waterpark, your one free ticket saves your party $38 while S.E.A Aquarium saves you all $30. See the official Resorts World Sentosa website for more details.
